Fantastic Stay

With two nights to spend at the lodge we were able to fully explore and take in all the animals and surroundings. Hannes, our guide was brilliant! There was nothing he did not know and he had a great and fun way of getting the information across. The food was great too, dinner and breakfast was served as buffet with loads of choice and nice wine. The room was nice and spacious, the bathroom was great and the outside patio and pool area great for relaxation. Overall it was the perfect stop on our drive from PE to Cape Town, wanting to see some wildlife while relaxing at the same time.

A little bit of Heaven

The total experience is very good, the staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is the closest to real South African cooking you will find anywhere in the country. The game drives are professional and the guides know their subject. This the best you will find in close proximity to Cape Town.

Room Tip: Our room in the main building was HUGE and well appointed.

Wonderful end to South African holiday

We chose to stay at the Garden Route Game Lodge as it fitted in with our two week tour and we spent the last 2 nights of our holiday here. What a fantastic experience for us all, luxury accommodation, fantastic food and excellent guided safaris with an unforgettable feeding elephant session at the end of the second evening game drive. It was by far the favourite location for our two teenage daughters, even the weather played its part for the time of year and they were able to relax around the pool during the day.

Fabulous adventure close to Cape Town

We chose the Garden Route Game Lodge because it was close to Cape Town only a four hour drive. The lodge looked great from the pictures on line. When we arrived were were not disappointed. The guest services were excellent, the view out into the reserve was great and the safari ride fabulous. We stayed two nights which gave us the opportunity to experience four rides into the reserve as well as take in Reptile Center and the Cheetah Experience. The food was great and guests could eat as much as they wanted. My wife wife loved the recently born baby giraffe. The female cheetah recently gave birth to four cubs, so she was no where to be seen. On the second evening ride, we were part of the group that were able to feed the elephants. What a great experience.

Three of my family’s best days ever

We had three wonderful days and two wonderful nights here in late February. Our experiences on the game drives were thrilling–seeing a cheetah’s hunt for antelopes disrupted by some yacking birds, seeing the lions’ interest perked by half a dozen blue cranes that landed dramatically near by, venturing way off road and running across some wild-looking Cape Sugarbirds–and the accommodations and food were far nicer than we’d hoped or expected. And the staff’s not just helpful but deeply knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. This place is a gem

Another great experience

This is the second time I have visited the game lodge and there has been many improvements since last time. This time we were a family of 6 and we enjoyed the game drive with a knowledgeable guide, who took us within a few feet of a cheetah enjoying the shade in the bush
after an ostrich kill. Our accommodation was good and the food in the new restaurant was excellent, but most of all I can praise the service and the friendly and helpful staff who organised a quiet room for one of our party who was unwell and allowed us to stay on after we had checked out. I hope to be able to return again soon, I loved it.

The words “Service”, “Accommodating”, “Friendliness” and “Amazing” describe my visit to Garden Route Game Lodge the best. Conveniently located right next to the N2 and easy accessible by standard car, makes Garden Route Game Lodge a perfect stop in the Garden Route.

The game drive was amazing and we saw a lot of animals. The guides had good knowledge and answered all the questions pointed at them in style.

Great dining at the local restaurant. Buffet style with a very big variety. The food was excellent and the service was quick and at the highest standards.

If you are looking for comfort, a relaxing atmosphere, great game viewing, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

New addition

The evening of 2nd April our giraffe family enlarged! A healthy calf was born in the night,

and mom and son were spotted that morning for the first time. The giraffe bull and Vuvuzela, the older calve, are still keeping their distance and waiting to meet the new addition.

Cheetah cubs

On 30 March our cheetah, Inyanga, gave birth to 4 beautiful cubs. That night and next day we had a lot of rain and bad weather. Luckily all 4 cubs are still healthy and doing good.
